To create your own
personal web page please follow the steps below. You may find it easier to print this
page for reference while you create your web page, in which case simply hit the "Print"
button on your browser toolbar. Also, remember to log in at least once every 6 months to keep your site active.
1. If you want to select a theme
for your web page click on the drop-down box beside "Active theme" then click on
"Select".
2. Beside the "New" button is a
blank box. Type in index.html. This will be your main page. In the drop-down box beside
this select the type of page you want to create. For this example we will select
"General".
3. Click on the "New" button. It
will bring up a page where you can fill in your information and select your desired
colors. When you are finished click on "Save" at the bottom of the page.
4. Congratulations! You have
created your main web page. Click on the "View" button to see your creation. Your
website address (URL) will be http://www.cooltoad.com/sites/username/ where 'username'
is your name for logging in. For example, if your user name that you use to logging to
your email, etc. is 'sam' then your website address is http://www.cooltoad.com/sites/sam/.
Your index.html page will be displayed using this link.
5. If you want to make changes to
your page select the page and click on the "Edit" button. You can come back and do this
as often as you like.
6. Now, let's create another page.
In the drop-down box beside "New" select Baby Announcement. In the blank box type in
baby.html then click on "New". You can now fill out the information for your baby
announcement and click on "Save" at the bottom of the page. Click on "View" to see your
page. For this baby announcement example above the link would be http://www.cooltoad.com/sites/sam/baby.html.
Go ahead and try it by typing it in to your browser's address bar (or using the Copy and
Paste commands of your browser under "Edit").
7. To rename a page, select the
page on the left. Type in the new name for the page in the blank box beside the "Rename"
button then click on "Rename".
8. Now, let's create a new
directory (or folder if you prefer that). You will see the purpose of this in a minute.
In the Directories section type in "kids" (no quotations) beside the "New" button then
click on the "New" button. You will see a new directory/folder called kids.
9. For this last example, make a
new page using the "General" page. Fill out the info like it is about one of your kids.
We'll call it jason.html.
10. Let's move this page to a
different directory. Select the page on the left. Type in the new name for the page in
the blank box beside the "Move" button, select the directory you want to move it to in
the drop-down box then click on "Move". For example, try moving jason.html to the kids
directory. For this example the link would be http://www.cooltoad.com/sites/sam/kids/jason.html.
You can create pages for your other children and put them all in the "kids" directory.
Directories or folders help keep your web pages organized.
11. You can rename or delete a
directory using the appropriate buttons. To view all the pages in a directory click on
the name then click on "Select". You will see all the pages listed under "Files in xxxx
Directory".
12. That should be enough to get
you going. If you don't like the way something turned out simply delete the page and try
it again. Go ahead and play!
Remember:
Your website address (URL) will be
http://www.cooltoad.com/sites/username/ where 'username' is your name for logging in.
For example, if your user name that you use to logging to your email, etc. is 'sam' then
your website address is http://www.cooltoad.com/sites/sam/. Your index.html page will
be displayed using this link.
For the baby announcement example
above the link would be http://www.cooltoad.com/sites/sam/baby.html
For the directory example the link
would be http://www.cooltoad.com/sites/sam/kids/jason.html
